Hi, I’m Sowmya, aka Mia.

I’m a photographer, physician, observer, traveler, and lifelong collector of moments.

I’ve always believed that some of the most interesting photographs happen when you’re not looking for a photograph at all. They’re found in the in-between moments—the light changes, someone turns a corner, a reflection transforms a familiar scene, and the quiet stories waiting to be noticed all around you.

My love of photography began with something my dad taught me: observe the world around you. That idea has stayed with me.

Today, I’m especially drawn to street photography, light, shadows, reflections, architecture, and the quiet human moments that give a city its personality. New York is often my canvas, but the stories don’t stop there. Wherever I travel, I’m drawn to the details that reveal something about a place and the people moving through it.

My notebook is my blog where I share these photographs and the stories behind them—what caught my eye, what almost went unnoticed, and sometimes, what I discovered only after I pressed the shutter.

Photography gives me a reason to slow down, look twice, and occasionally wonder what everyone else just walked past.
